What is a Checkride?

A checkride is your final test at the end of your pilot training.
Each time you want to get a new certificate, you need a checkride.

Oral Test

First, you’ll sit down with a representative of the FAA called a DPE (Designated Pilot Examiner). You’ll first do the Oral Test, which is a discussion with the DPE to discuss your aviation knowledge.

PRACTICAL TEST

Then, you’ll move on to the Practical Test which is a skills based test that is done in the airplane.

The goal of this checkride is to leave a certificated pilot, or add on a new certificate.

Pass the Oral and Practical Tests, and you walk away with the certificate.

More importantly, many pilots are simply frightened to death that they may ‘fail’ on their big day.

That’s why we created Checkride ACE, so pilots could pass their checkride with flying colors.

How does Checkride ACE help?

That’s where Checkride ACE from Angle of Attack swoops in to the rescue.

Checkride ACE is a rich mixture of video, audio and study guides to pass your big day with flying colors.

It’s video based and accessible any time in our online learning center.

Your online course comes with a Study Guide to prepare and freshen up on the knowledge from ground school, and a Checkride Checklist to make sure you bring all the essential items, equipment, documents and signatures.

Here’s how it works.

STEP 1 – PREPARE

PREPARE WITH BIG PICTURE
THINKING FOR MAX EFFECT

Go into your checkride with a healthy and powerful mindset, full of confidence and backed by preparation and knowledge. Our instructor lead videos go over what the checkride will be like, what’s required in the process, and how you can power through all the self-doubt and own your big day.

STEP 2 – Study

STUDY REVIEW WITH OUR
UNIQUE "P.A.V.E." STUDY GUIDE

Not sure if you remember all the knowledge from the written test study? No worries. This fill-in-the-blanks guide takes you through a chronological, front-to-back review of what you need to know.

This isn’t a ground school. You should have completed the written test already. Rather, it’s a way to make sure you review all the material so when you go to the DPE and talk about your knowledge, it’s fresh and front of mind.

STEP 3 –Organize

ORGANIZE YOUR CHECKRIDE
FOR A HUGE FIRST IMPRESSION

Imagine sitting down with the DPE, giving them a “Checkride Folder”, and then quickly getting through the paperwork, and the Oral Test. If you come unprepared and you’re missing something, the checkride can’t even begin and you’ll need to reschedule.

By coming fully organized, you’ll show the DPE you’re a professional, no matter what level of certificate you’re seeking.

This Checkride Checklist will make sure that you don’t miss any flight training time required, endorsements, paperwork, and other items needed for the tests.

Don’t miss a detail with our Checkride Checklist.

STEP 4 –Become

BECOME AN AVIATOR WITH PROVEN METHODS

The checkride isn’t rocket science, but it is worth treating very seriously. With the right mindset, preparation, and organization, you too can walk away a freshly certificated aviator.

We’ve sent many students to checkrides from our own flight school, and have trained thousands here online at Angle of Attack.

This section is motivational, and will give you that extra ‘nudge’ to have confidence going into your big day.

frequently asked questions

No. Checkride ACE is a checkride preparation program. It’s assumed you’ve taken one of our ground school’s, or prepared yourself in some other fashion with the majority of the knowledge you need. This course is for that final bump, organization, and mindset to get ready for checkride after you’ve completed all the requirements.

A checkride is your final test with the FAA. After you’re done with the test, and if you pass satisfactorily, you walk away a certificated pilot. The checkride itself consists of an Oral test where you sit down with the DPE while they interview your and check your knowledge, in addition to a Practical Test where you fly with the DPE and show your flying skills. The Written Test needs to be completed before the checkride can take place, and all training requirements finished.

A “Designated Pilot Examiner” or DPE is a representative of the FAA, typically an experience local pilot, that is designated by the FAA and specially trained to conduct checkrides.

This video course guides you through the correct, methodical and predictable path to making your checkride a stress-free event. Our Chief Instructor, Chris Palmer, teaches you the right mindset, gives you tools to organize and study, and sets you up to master your big day.

Yes, Always! We stand by our work.

For just the cost of 1 hour of time, you get to pick Chris’ brain on all the ins-and-outs it takes to pass your checkride. You’ve come this far, prepared this much, and you may as well organize it in a meaningful way. All the while, doing so stress free. It’s a small price to pay for peace of mind.
