Today’s Flight Plan
The IM SAFE Checklist.
As pilots we spend a whole lot of time making sure that our airplanes are running well and we’re setup for flight. We have routine maintenance, we do extensive preflight procedures, engine runups, and much more.
So why not check ourselves as well?
Before you got flying, you should be doing the IMSAFE checklist. It should always be in the back of your mine, part of your subconscious ‘readiness’ evaluation.
It’s true that as pilots we think we can conquer anything. Besides, haven’t we conquered the world? Well, sometimes things are a bit outside our control and we can’t even conquer ourselves.
That is, what is your readiness for flight? The IMSAFE checklist can help you make this evaluation.
It’s as follows:
- Illness
- Medication
- Stress
- Alcohol
- Fatigue/Food
- External Pressures
In this podcast episode we’ll explore the the IMSAFE checklist so you are able to make a fair evaluation of yourself each time you fly.
